Tobacco Prevention Programs


PYS works with parents, youth, community members, local organizations and key decision-makers to advocate for healthier tobacco-related policies. PYS works closely with retailers to reduce youth access to tobacco products and also, focuses on reducing exposure to second-hand smoke in Los Angeles County, specifically in Glendale, La Canada Flintridge, San Fernando and Burbank.

Community Educational Presentations: PYS conducts educational presentations to educate community members about the harms of tobacco products and exposure to second-hand smoke in multi-unit housing.

Resource Tabling Events: PyS attended community events and meetings to distribute educational materials on the harms of tobacco and exposure to second-hand smoke to the community.

Public opinion surveys: PyS conducts public opinion surveys on youth access to tobacco products and exposure to secondhand smoke in multi-unit housing. PyS provides the opportunity for community members to share their opinion on tobacco. If you are interested in participating in a short survey, feel free to contact our San Fernando office.

Local Coalition Groups: We have local coalition groups located in the following cities, Glendale, Burbank, La Canada Flintridge, and San Fernando. These local coalition groups meet monthly to discuss different strategies to advocate for healthier tobacco-related policies. In addition, work towards reducing youth access to tobacco products and reducing exposure to secondhand smoke in multi-unit housing.
