President

Jose L. De Paz, MS

Jose L. De Paz, MS:  Mr. De Paz graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received a Master’s of Science degree in counseling & guidance. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Chicano Studies at California State University Northridge (CSUN). His experience include civil rights and community organizing and focuses on strategic planning and organizational management for non-profits. He currently works for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a community outreach director.

Vice President

Adrian Estrada Jr., Ph.D

Dr. Adrian Estrada Jr., Ph.D currently serves as the Vice-President on the Pueblo Y Salud, Inc Board of Directors. He has served on the board since 2015  and has been a member of Pueblo Y Salud since 2011. Dr. AdrianEstrada Jr. is a resident of the San Fernando Valley since 2013 and continues to be an active advocate in the community. Dr. Adrian Estrada Jr. received a BS in Rehabilitation Services from California State University of Los Angeles (CSULA),  he then received an MA in Human Development specializing in Leadership in Education and Social Services from Pacific Oaks College, most recently he received an Ed.D in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. AdrianEstrada Jr. first became involved with Pueblo Y Salud, Inc. as the Program Director and quickly involved himself in grant writing for the organization’s growth. Dr. Adrian Estrada Jr. currently is a Director at a non-profit that focuses on services around primary care, mental health, substance abuse, and homelessness/housing services.

Bruno Hernandez, MS

Bruno Hernandez, MS: Mr. Hernandez graduated from the University of La Verne and received a Master’s of Science degree in Educational Counseling. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Political History at Loyola Marymount University. He is a retired Instructor and Academic Counselor with Los Angeles Unified School District and Los Angeles Community College District Adult and Career Division.

Treasurer

Javier Verdin

Javier Verdin: Mr. Verdin received a degree in Cultural and Dramatic Arts. He has studied the Folklore of Mexico for over 30 years. He is currently the Co-Director of Ballet Folklorico Ollin, where their primary goal is to preserve and interpret the diverse cultural beauty of México by re-creating it here in California through music, dance, and folk traditions. He is a Teacher of Folkloric dances from all regions of Mexico and is an active community organizer in the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

Jose Hernandez, Ph.D

Jose Hernandez, Ph.D: Dr. Hernandez graduated from University of California Riverside (UCR) and received his Doctorate degree in Political Science. He received his Masters of Arts in Economics from Ohio State University (OSU). In addition, he received his Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Saint Mary University.  He was a Professor Emeritus at the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He was a former Councilman and Mayor of San Fernando, California. Furthermore, Dr. Hernandez is the author of ‘The Limits of Social Change: The Case of a Mexican American Community’ published in 2015.

Veronica De Lara, MPA

Veronica De Lara, MPA: was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She received her Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University of Los Angeles (CalStateLA) and received three Bachelors of Arts from the University of California Davis (UCDavis). Currently, She is a Political Organizer for SEIU United Service Workers West. Veronica leads USWW local electoral campaigns and runs civic engagement campaigns among members to increase participation in political activities, contract campaigns and legislative process. Most recently, Veronica was elected as Vice President of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats. She serves as a member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee and of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley. Veronica also serves on the Board of Directors of non-profit organization called Alcohol Justice.
