Palmdale Programs

Our Public Health programs seek to improve community standards to address alcohol, marijuana and other drug-related issues. Our Prevention efforts focuses on ways to prevent youth access and reduce availability in our communities.

Prevention Community Council (PCC):  The goal is to implement policies that will improve the safety and wellness of the community. Some examples are to  have annual Responsible Beverage Training for all employees (new and old) at liquor stores and restaurants, monitor sells to minors, and reduce alcohol-related incidents in our Palmdale community.

Alcohol Retail Program: PYS is working with Alcohol Retailers in the city ofPalmdale by providing Responsible Beverage Services (RBS) training to liquor store personal by teaching retailers how to sell alcohol responsibly to their customers.  Helping retailers implement best practices for limiting sales to youth and reducing underage drinking in our communities.

Rethinking Access to Marijuana: Teaches parents about the harms of marijuana and ways to prevent youth access and reduce availability.

Over the Counter and Prescription Drug Abuse: Increase public awareness of the risks of prescrip
tion drug abuse, the importance of proper storage, and safe drug disposal programs.

Civic Engagement: Help residents become more involved in their community. PYS has educated and engaged more than 40,000 people in the San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley
